Gerald Abdalla, Sr.

Gerald “Gramps” Abdalla Sr., a lifelong resident of DeQuincy passed away Wednesdday, May 5, 2021 at the age of 89.

Gerald proudly served his country in the United States Marines. He was an All American High School football player and a High School National Rodeo finalist. He loved working cattle, gardening, squirrel hunting and watching football. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his children, Mickey Lynn Marcantel of DeQuincy and Dr. Gerald “Bubba” Abdalla, Jr. and wife, Karlyn of DeRidder; grandchildren, Kace Marcantel and wife, Sarah of Longville, Kili Reeves and husband, Greg of DeQuincy, Leslie McGuire and husband, Josh of Lake Charles, and Megan Johnson and husband, Timothy of DeRidder along with 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, George L. “Pargie” Abdalla and wife, Neelum of DeRidder.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Cleo Abdalla; parents, James J. Abdalla, Sr. and Edna Gearen Abdalla; and his brother, James J. Abdalla, Jr.

The family received friends from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, May 8, with the funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Rev. Wayne Neyland officiated. Interment followed at Masonic Cemetery in DeQuincy.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
