Shelia Phillips

Shelia D. Phillips, a resident of DeQuincy was born June 22, 1952 and passed away Monday, Apr. 5, 2021 at the age of 68.

To know Shelia was to love her. She loved to have fun but most of all she loved taking care of others and would do her very best to see everyone had everything they needed sacrificing her needs for the needs of others. Shelia was known as Maw Maw Shelia or Aunt Shelia to her nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her children, Kerry Phillips and wife, Tina of Morgan Town, Kentucky, Joseph “Joey” Phillips and fiance’ Nee Nee of Slidell, Crystal Royer of DeQuincy, Misty Baker and husband, Delvin of DeQuincy and Michael Shane Burgess of DeQuincy; grandchildren, Kory, Amber, Kili, Corben, Rahley, Reagan, Cade, Myka, Delvin, Jr., Trae and Ethan along with eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her lifelong friends, Susan Royer and Anita Fryar who were more like sisters to her..

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon Phillips and Charlee Ashworth Phillips; brothers, Leon “Roc” Phillips and Donald Lee Phillips.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Apr. 9, and the funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Apr. 10. The visitation and funeral service will be held at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Rev. Eddie Hoosier will officiate. Interment will follow at Hyatt Cemetery in Fields.

Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
