Archie Kendall, 93, of DeQuincy, passed away on Sunday, Mar. 7, 2021 at DeRidder Retirement and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born to his late parents, Elmer and Virgil Kendall on July 27, 1927 in DeQuincy. He was a lifelong resident of DeQuincy, and loved the town he lived in and it’s history. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He also managed Cash and Carry Grocery Store in Oakdale, before coming to the DeQuincy store as Manager for 20 years. Following his time at Cash and Carry, he then went to work for Lyons Lumber and Coal Co. as a sales rep for 20 years. In his spare time, he loved playing music and played in his younger years in clubs with his cousins, Harry Whatley and Rene Whatley.
He is survived by his niece, Linda Kendall Prudhomme; nephew, Frank Kendall, Jr. both of DeQuincy; two great-nephews, David Kendall and Derek Kendall; and a great niece, Dana Kendall. He also leaves behind a host of family and friends.
Archie was preceded in death by his two brothers, Frank Kendall, Sr. and J. H. Kendall.
Services will be held at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy on Friday, Mar. 12, at 11 a.m., with Bro. Alvin Dale Smith officiating. Visitation will be at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home on Thursday, Mar. 11, from 5 until 8 p.m. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Friday, from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Perkins Cemetery.
Services have been entrusted to Jordan and Amanda Mothershed of Hixson-Snider Funeral Home, 205 E. Harrison St., DeQuincy.
