Nominations for Civic Award sought

The DeQuincy Chamber of Commerce, at the monthly meeting, agreed to move forward with the “Nominations for the Civic Service Award”. Due to the Covid restrictions the Annual Chamber Banquet is on hold at this time.
The Board decided to go ahead with nominations for the award.

Any church, organization, club or individual may submit a person for the award. The person nominated should have made a contribution to DeQuincy and not been paid for it. The letter should be no more than 300 words and give details of the contributions the person has made.

The deadline for the letters is Mar. 3. All nominations should be brought to the Chamber office, located at 218 E. 4th St. or mailed to P. O. Box 625, DeQuincy LA 70633. The nominator will be responsible for a ticket to the banquet of $25.

Also the Board discussed the upcoming Valentine Pageant that will be held Satur-day, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m. at the Heritage Hotel. The entry fee is $25. If there are questions call Lillian Karr, Chamber Manager, at 786-6451. Entry forms may be obtained by sending a private message request on the Chamber’s Facebook page. The deadline for entries is Wednesday, Jan. 27, at 12 noon.

Election of officers for 2021 was held with the following elected: Jerry Bell, president, Darlene Hooker, Vice President and Sherrie Breaux treasurer.

Josh Foster, outgoing president, was thanked for his service at the DeQuincy Chamber of Commerce.
