Go online for vaccine info

Brookshire Brothers pharmacies in Louisiana received a limited allotment of the COVID-19 vaccine this week to help those most at risk.

Director of Clinical Pharmacy Programs Laura Edmundson said the Brookshire Brothers pharmacies in DeQuincy, Sulphur and DeRidder are following the state’s priority grouping system and have begun vaccinating a small number of outpatient healthcare workers and residents over the age of 70.

At this time, the pharmacies are not accepting additional names for those wanting to receive the vaccine, as the waiting list outnumbers the amount of immunizations Brookshire Brothers has been allocated.

However, the Lufkin-based grocery and pharmacy chain is working to develop an online waiting list for Louisiana residents in phase 1b, which includes outpatient healthcare workers and residents over the age of 70. The online form should be available later this week.

“We ask for your patience as we provide this valuable service to our communities,” she said. “We also ask the general public to refrain from calling their local pharmacy with questions concerning the vaccine so that our staff can focus on serving customers and vaccinating the top priority groups.”
