Jerome Nortman

Jerome Walter Nortman, 84, was born Sept. 4, 1936, in Orange Grove, Texas and passed away Saturday, Nov. 28, 2020 at his residence in DeQuincy.

Jerome “Pepaw” is a man that will not only be missed by his family but a host of friends, as he never met a stranger. His favorite person in the world to be with was his wife, who he told every night before he went to sleep that he loved her. Jerome was the kind of father that earned him the title of “best friend” to each of his sons. He was always ready to help his family with every task and never wanted to be left out of any event. If Jerome didn’t know you, it didn’t take long before he knew much about you. He was a hard-working man, full of life and never left you wondering what he was thinking.

Jerome loved and respected God and prayed his rosary daily. He took his sons to church and made it known that God was important.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Deanna Louise Dickens Nortman; his sons, Randy Nortman and wife, Darlene, Terry Nortman and wife, Lisa, Mark Nortman and wife, Mechele, and Tim Nortman and wife, Stacy; grandchildren, Ambra Kent and husband, Matt, Chez Nortman, Lauren Royer and husband, Dustin, John Michael Ashmore, Kayla Pace and husband, Lance, Kelly Menou and husband, Phillip, Chet Nortman and wife, Heather, Bret Singletary and husband, Garrett, Sean Bean and wife, Dinah, Matt Bean and wife, Brittany, Hunter Nortman, and Collin Nortman; great-grandchildren, Rowan Kent, Ezra Kent, Jayden Vincent, Sarah Royer, Landry Menou, Declan Pace, Clancy Singletary, Olivia Bean, Sophia Bean, Owen Bean, and Samuel Bean.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Joseph Nortman and Josephine Tschoepe Nortman; sister Willie Mae Gault; and brother, Henry William Nortman.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, with a Rosary to be held at 6 p.m. at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. The funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, at Our Lady of LaSalette Church in DeQuincy with interment to follow in Perkins Cemetery in DeQuincy.
