District 30 State Senator Mike Reese (R-Leesville) is Chamber Southwest Louisiana’s 2020 LegisGator of the Year.
Senator Reese was honored at this year’s virtual awards event for his commitment to the pro-business agenda of the Chamber SWLA and his support of business initiatives in the legislature.
“I’m honored to receive this recognition from the Southwest Alliance,” said Reese. “George Swift and his team have an outstanding reputation and history of providing support to the business community in Louisiana. I am proud to support their efforts to rebuild and restore Louisiana’s economy.”
Former State Senator Mike Michot with The Picard Group presented the award to Reese and noted the Senator’s work to shore up the state’s unemployment trust fund as one of the many reasons he was selected for the honor, “The southwest region’s Senator Mike Reese, in cooperation with Senate President Page Cortez and other legislative leaders, actually put forth and passed legislation which will prevent the automatic tax increase on business so that they can shore up the unemployment trust fund without placing an additional undue burden on business. That is one of the reasons we present the LegisGator of the Year award to Senator Mike Reese.”
Senator Reese was elected to serve the people of Senate District 30 in Louisiana Senate in 2019. He is currently Vice-Chairman of the Labor & Industrial Relations Committee and a member of the Judiciary B, Revenue & Fiscal Affairs, and Senate & Governmental Affairs Committees. He also serves on the Military and Veterans Affairs Select Committee and the Joint Legislative Committee on Capital Outlay.
