Brookshire Bros. to make donation

Brookshire Brothers invites the DeQuincy community to help those in need this holiday season by donating non-perishable food items and hot meals. The Lufkin, Texas-based employee owned grocery chain offers two in-store programs aimed at helping fight food insecurity and hunger in southwestern Louisiana.

For just $10, customers may purchase a Brown Bag of Hope that is filled with staple food items, such as canned vegetables, pasta or rice. Through the Helping a Neighbor in Need program, customers can also stop by the deli and order a hot, holiday meal that will be donated.

“We make it easy for our customers to help others during this busy season of life. We’re seeing such an increased need due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and we’re proud to offer the support our community needs right now,” said Jason Nelson, Brookshire Brothers DeQuincy store director.

Nelson said he chose to support Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church and will donate all of the Brown Bags of Hope sold in his store to the church’s annual Thanksgiving baskets.

Stop by Brookshire Brothers to feed others during this difficult time and purchase a Brown Bag of Hope and Helping a Neighbor in Need meal.
