Chamber to meet Thursday; Christmas plans announced

The DeQuincy Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors will meet Thursday, Nov. 12, at the Heritage Place Hotel & Suites meeting room at 1028 E. Fourth St. Diane Engle is the hostess for the luncheon meeting.

Christmas Parade

The Chamber will host the DeQuincy Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec. 5, at 10 a.m. It will be open to floats and vehicles. The parade lineup will be on Third St. from Oak Street to McNeese St. The theme of the parade this year will be Country Christmas.

This year’s Parade Marshal is Linda Royer, 2020 Chamber of Commerce Civic Service Award recipient.

There will be Fireworks at 6 p.m. at the Union Pacific Sports Complex.

Christmas Pageant

The Miss Merry Christmas Pageant, sponsored by the DeQuincy Chamber, will be held Saturday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m. at the Heritage Place Hotel & Suites. The fee to be a contestant is $25. This must be paid at the Chamber office, located at 218 E. 4th St. The Chamber office is open Monday and Wednesday until 12:30 p.m. each day.

The deadline to enter is Tuesday, Nov. 17. The office will be open on this date.

The divisions are as follows: Baby Miss, 2 yrs.; Petite Miss, 3 yrs; Tiny Miss, 4 and 5 yrs.; Little Miss, 6 and 7 yrs.; Darling Miss, 8 and 9 yrs.; Deb Miss, 10 and 11 yrs.; Pre Teen Miss, 12 yrs.; Teen Miss, 13 yrs.; Jr. Miss, 14 and 15 yrs.; Miss 16 and 17 yrs. The contestants named Queen will receive a crown and flowers, and a certificate. The first runnerup will receive a certificate.
The dress will be denim skirts or jeans.

The fee to enter as an observer is $5. There will be no charge to mothers. All others will pay $5. Children under 6 will not be charged.

All those crowned Queen will be asked to ride in the Christmas Parade, that will be held Saturday, Dec. 5, at 10 a.m.
