Chamber Christmas activities announced

The DeQuincy Chamber of Commerce will host the DeQuincy Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec. 5, at 10 a.m. It will be open to floats and vehicles. The parade lineup will be on Third St. from Oak Street to McNeese St. The theme of the parade this year will be Country Christmas.

There will be Fireworks at 6 p.m. at the ballpark.

The Chamber will also sponsor a Miss Merry Christmas Pageant on Saturday, Nov. 20, starting at 2 p.m., at the Heritage Hotel. The pageant will be open to contestants 2 to 17 years of age. The dress will be denim skirts or jeans. The contestants named the Queens will be asked to ride in the Christmas Parade.

The fee to enter the contest is $25. All must register at the Chamber of Commerce office, located at 218 E. 4th St. The deadline to enter is Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 12 noon.

The fee to be an observer of the pageant is $5. All who wish to come into the pageant will pay the fee of $5. Mothers will be admitted at no charge. All others will pay to enter.

As this has been a difficult year with the virus and the storms, the Chamber feels that it is time to move forward with some good. So the parade, fireworks, and the pageant will move forward.

For any questions, call Lillian Karr at the Chamber office at 786-6451.
