Starks 2020 Students of Year named

The Starks High School Students of the Year for 2020 are:

Braden Holloway is the Elementary Student of the Year at Starks High. Holloway is the son of James and Brandi Holloway. He enjoys playing basketball, football, and baseball. When he is not in school or playing sports, he enjoys spending time with his family, going to church, and playing the guitar and drums with his dad. When he grows up, he wants to play basketball in the NBA. If that doesn’t work out, he wants to go to college and be accepted into LSU law school and become an attorney.

Isabelle Deville is the Middle School Student of the Year at Starks High. Deville is a member of the basketball, softball, and track teams at Starks High. She enjoys sports and spending time with family and friends. She said that she excels in school and life because of the support and encouragement of her family. She participates in many activities and community service events at her church. After she graduates, she plans to attend college to become a nurse so that she can help people.

Abbie Elise Clark is the High School Student of the Year at Starks High. Clark is the daughter of Jared and Andrea Clark. Both of her parents were born and raised in Starks and graduated from Starks High School. One thing that she loves to do is compete. Playing sports has been a huge part of her life, and it is something that she enjoys doing with her family.

Basketball is her first love, but she enjoys softball and track and field meets, also. She loves helping her team to be successful, and looks at the time that they all spend together as special to her.

As captain of the basketball team, she has tried to be set a positive example. She said that she has learned huge lessons about commitment and dedication and how to persevere in or through adversity by participating in sports. She has been active in school clubs and organizations and spends a great deal of time in service to her community.

Her future plans are to pursue a degree in nursing, and she hopes to be a NICU nurse or work in labor and delivery. She feels that the hard work and commitment as a student-athlete who maintained an A average every year has created a work ethic that will help her meet her goals of becoming a nurse.
