The DeQuincy Police attended a workshop at the Heritage Place Hotel and Suites on Wednesday, Feb. 19. The workshop was presented by the Department of Justice, Attorney General Jeff Landry.

Monica Taylor, Special Projects, Neurobiology of Trauma, talked on how trauma affects victims’ memories and recall of an event and how to work with victims of Domestic Violence and Substance Abuse to build the best case.

Craig Russell with Baton Rouge Police Department talked on staying safe on DV calls and dealing with victims to build the best case.

Traffic Stops and Domestic Violence are two of the most dangerous that a patrol officer can go on.

The emphasis was stressed to ensure that both the officer and the victim are safe.
