Ethel Parker

Ethel Marie Parker, born Bruney, was born on Jan. 30, 1943 to Wilton and Clarice Bruney and raised by grandparents, Matt and Dorceline Bruney. She passed away Monday, Jan. 27, 2020 at the age of 76.

Ethel’s first Marriage welcomed four children, Pamela, Micheal, Cynthia and Mark. She then married Willard Parker who cared for her until her death.

She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother and always willing to help a friend or stranger. She was very active in church, always cooking, participating in fundraisers and for a while she was a Sunday School teacher. She was always willing to pray for someone and enjoyed talking about God. She had a great love and reverence for God and His house.

Ethel is survived by her husband, Willard Parker; and children, Pamela Petry of Ragley, Cynthia Hanks of Sulphur, and Mark Hanks of Ragley. She is also survived by sisters, Melba Bellomo and husband, J. C. and Devern Fuselier and husband, Bobby; brothers, Steve Bruney and wife, Kathy; Craig Bruney and Dale Bruney; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Preceding Ethel in death were her eldest son, Micheal Wayne Hanks; parents, Wilton and Clarice Bruney; grandparents, Matt and Dorceline Bruney; sister, Connie Lacour; and brother, Richard Bruney.

Family received friends from 12 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at Topsy United Pentecostal Church, 1002 Adams Road, Ragley. Interment followed at New Ritchie Cemetery in Moss Bluff.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
