Calvin Nueman Carney, Sr., 81, a resident of DeQuincy passed away on Friday, Jan. 31, 2020 at his residence.
He was born to his late parents, Alvin and Carrie Carney, on Apr. 25, 1938 in Independence.
He worked at the Yellott Ford Dealership as a mechanic and shop foreman for many years and later retired from the City of DeQuincy as a mechanic. He loved to spend time in his garden and tend to his yard.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Johanna Carney; children, Jessica Holden and husband, David of Addis, Calvin Carney Jr., and wife, Cathy of Walker; sister, Barbara McAlister of Independence; brother, Alvin S. Carney and wife, Doris of Shreveport; six grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Diane Granger; grandchild, Bradley “Scottie” Carney and great-grandchild, Bradley “Bo” Carney.
At his request, all final arrangements are private and cremation has been entrusted to Riley Smith & Sons Funeral, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
