Gwendolyn “Gwen” LaRocque a resident of DeQuincy was born in Maud, Texas on Nov. 2, 1940 and passed away Friday, Dec. 13, 2019 at the age of 79. Gwen was a lifelong Christian and a member of the Church of Christ. She was a 1958 graduate of LaGrange High School. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Louis LaRocque; sons, Louis “Roc” LaRocque of Butler, Pa. and Erick LaRocque and wife, Beth of DeQuincy; along with four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Brycson “Butch” Torrans and wife, Lynnette of Woodlawn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlos and Winifred Torrans; and sister, Clytee Shuffield.
The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16 at Enterprise Boulevard Church of Christ, 2801 Enterprise Blvd., Lake Charles and from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, until time for the funeral service. The funeral service began at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, at Enterprise Boulevard Church of Christ in Lake Charles and interment followed at Riley Smith Memorial Park in DeQuincy.
