DeQuincy High School has named Kerri Manuel as the 2019-20 Teacher of the Year.
Manuel teaches biology at DeQuincy High and has taught for eight years. She is a member of DeQuincy High’s leadership team, serves as a mentor teacher and is a district teacher leader. Additionally, she serves as the head boys and girls cross country coach and as girls track assistant coach.
Manuel holds a Bachelor of Science degree from McNeese State University. She also holds an Associate of Clinical Laboratory Science degree from Lamar State College.
In addition to teaching, she has worked as a clinical laboratory science technician for DeQuincy Memorial Hospital.
When asked about her teaching and coaching, Manuel states, “Science is a passion of mine, and I want to pass that passion along to my students and push them to always be their ‘best self’ in life.”
A 1995 graduate of DeQuincy High, she resides in DeQuincy and has three children.
