Mona Chandler

Mona Rae Chandler, 72, of DeQuincy, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019 at her residence.

She was born to her late parents, Wilson Manuel and Virgie Richard in Eunice on July 4, 1947. She was a parishioner at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in DeQuincy for many years. She loved crafting, sewing, quilting, and spending time with her grandchildren and family.

She is survived by her one son, Clarence Christopher Chandler (Tonya) of Ragley; two daughters, Susan Moses and Julie Chandler Reed, both of DeQuincy; brothers, Floyd Menard (Sherry) of Eunice, Harold Menard (Belinda) of Eunice, James Richard of Eunice, Danny Manuel (Donna) of Many, Kenneth Manuel (Joyce) of South Carolina; sisters, Sandra Koonce (Danny) of Texas, Diana Matt of Eunice; eight grandchildren, Rebekah Moses Bourque and husband Ryan of Lake Charles, Bethany Moses of Dallas, Texas, Hallie Moses Wall and husband Dr. Andrew of West Virginia, Justin Vallery of DeQuincy, Morgan Vallery of DeQuincy, and Lyndsie Charpentier of New Iberia, Christopher Cade Chandler of Sulphur, Taylor Chandler of Ragley; along with 10 great-grandchildren.

Mona was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Clarence “Sonny” Clifton Chandler; along with two brothers, Jean Richard and Ronald Menard.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church of DeQuincy on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 11 a.m., with Father Louis Tigga officiating.

Visitation was at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church Hall on Monday, Dec. 2, from 5 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary at 6 p.m. Visitation resumed at the Hall on Tuesday, from 9 a.m. until the time of the service in the church. Burial followed at Perkins Cemetery.

Services were entrusted to Hixson-Snider Funeral Home, 205 E. Harrison St., DeQuincy.
