Sponsors sought for Community Christmas

As the holiday season quickly approaches, we begin to prepare for the annual DeQuincy Community Christmas Project. This is a project that began some years ago that helps to provide personal needs and gifts to children and families during the Christmas season. Children ages birth to senior in high school are eligible to participate.

If you are a parent with children in any one of our DeQuincy Schools and are in need of assistance this Christmas, contact your school’s counselor. They have this year’s form that needs to be completed and turned back in to your school by Friday, Nov. 5.

If you are a parent with a child or children, not of school age, and are in need of assistance, call Tonya Thibodeaux at 786-2163.

If you apply through your school or through Mrs. Thibodeaux, there is no need to apply at another location.

The assistance is not monetary but gift oriented. The last day to apply for assistance is Friday, Nov. 8. No more names will be accepted after this date.

If your church, club, or organization is interested in sponsoring local children for Christmas, contact Thibodeaux at 786-2163. Individual sponsors are also welcome and needed.

We are fortunate to live in such a giving community and the need in our small town is great. This project helped 168 DeQuincy children and 68 DeQuincy families during Christmas 2018 and we are looking forward to another blessed year.

The DeQuincy Community Christmas Project is in no way affiliated with Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) Department and the Al Worley Marine Corps League #1157 Calcasieu Parish 2019 Toys for Tots Campaign. Apply for one or the other, but not both.
