Waste Management new provider for DeQuincy

The City of DeQuincy has selected Waste Management as the new waste provider beginning Tuesday, Oct. 1.

Each resident will receive a 96-gallon cart (green in color) for waste collection sometime between Sept. 23-30.

Do not place your green Waste Management cart out for collection until the week of Oct. 1.

Additional carts may be obtained for a fee by calling the customer service number at 436-7229.

Bulk items such as chairs, couches, furniture and white goods will be picked up weekly on the same day as your garbage cart, and limited to two cubic yards per pickup weekly. Yard waste shall not exceed six feet in length and four inches in diameter, and thirty-five pounds or less per bundle or pile.

Waste Management will not collect solid or liquid hazardous waste. Examples include: paint, pesticides, petroleum derivatives (such as motor oil and solvents) explosive items, dead animals, offal waste, and tires.

The current service days of Monday and Friday will remain the same. Customers who are currently serviced on Wednesday will be serviced on Thursday. Place your cart at the curb the night before your service day or by 6 a.m. the morning of your service day.
