Tommy Joe Rainwater was born on Nov. 20, 1940 and passed away Monday, Aug. 18, 2019 at the age of 78.
He was a lifelong resident of DeQuincy. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Maxine Barks Rainwater; children, Rhonda Rainwater and Nick Kitzmiller of Iowa; Randy Rainwater and Robyn Stark of DeQuincy, and Jeremy Rainwater and Amanda Richard of DeQuincy; his grandchildren, Brytni LaBiche and husband, Bryant of Iowa, Christian Rainwater and Courtney Bushnell of DeQuincy, Cade Rainwater and Harli Rose of DeQuincy, and Charleston Granger of Lafayette; and his great-grandchildren, Shylo, Daxson, Beverly and Olivia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tommy B. Rainwater and Zelda Mae Snider Rainwater; siblings, Beth Barks, Reid Rainwater, and Beverly Barks Rainwater.
The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, with the funeral service beginning at 7 p.m. at First United Pentecostal Church, 230 Smith St., DeQuincy.
A Prayer Service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 21, beginning at 10 a.m. at the church. Pastor Carlton Jackson, Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow at Spikes Cemetery in Bancroft.
Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
