Calcasieu Parish residents can make appointments to apply for financial assistance for their electricity and gas utility expenses through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LiHEAP) starting Wednesday, Aug. 7.
LiHEAP helped nearly 5,300 people in 2017-2018.
Applications will be reviewed in the order they are received and residents must schedule an appointment with a representative in order to apply for assistance. LiHEAP is based on a resident’s total income, and priority is given to residents over 60 years of age, households with children under 5 years of age, and those residents with disabilities.
Beginning Aug. 7, interested residents may call 337-721-4033 from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
Scheduled appointments will be given in the following communities on these specified days and times:
- DeQuincy: 9 a.m.-11:40 a.m., First and third Tuesdays of each month.
- Starks: 9 a.m.-11:40 a.m., Second Thursday of each month.
