The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury has approved the consolidation of the seven parish gravity drainage district boards into two district boards, one for east Calcasieu and the other for west Calcasieu. Each board will have seven members and their first meetings will be held in late July.
Gravity Drainage No. Six of Wards Five and Six had covered DeQuincy, Edgerly, and Starks.
West Calcasieu board members are: Lance Trahan, James Perry, Damon Goss, Rick Fitts, Robert Hudson Jr., Nathan Spencer, and Donald Stinson.
The West Calcasieu drainage board will hold its first meeting at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 29.
A replacement millage will be called for in 2020.
The combined gravity drainage boards should be more efficient and will be able to attend to “big picture” drainage issues in the parish.
