Applications for Police Chief being taken

The City of DeQuincy is accepting applications for Police Chief.

Michael Suchanek, former Chief, submitted a letter of resignation Wednesday, May 1, and will retire after working as Chief for 25 years under five different mayors.

Mayor Riley Smith has appointed Cpl. Roy Williams as Interim Chief, while the city takes applications through Friday, May 31. Williams has been with the police department for four years. Earlier, he had worked for Phelps Correctional Center before retiring.

Additionally, the city is also accepting applications for a part-time dispatcher. Applicants interested in any of the positions may apply by completing an application, which may be picked up at City Hall, 300 N. Holly Street.
