Clinton Joseph LaVergne was born in Church Point on Oct. 6, 1923 and passed away at his residence in Orange, Texas on Thursday, Apr. 11, 2019 at the age of 95.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Lavergne; children, Kenneth LaVergne and wife, Barbara, Barbara Corey, Dean Kressman and husband, Ross, Wayne LaVergne and wife, Tammy; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren and his sister, Ollie Rhodus.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eula LaVergne; parents, Clibert and Valentine LaVergne; son, Jimmy Joseph LaVergne; brothers, Pierre and Clifford; sisters, Mable, Sadie and Audrey.
The family received friends from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Apr. 16, at First Christian Church, 4234 FM 408, Orangefield, Texas with the funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. at the church. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Orange, Texas. Bro. Mike Sullivan and Bro. Wayne Duhon officiated.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
