Armond “A. B.” Benoit, 81, of Lake Charles died Monday, Jan. 28, 2019, at a local hospital.
He was born in Big Lake and lived most of his life in the Lake Charles area. He retired from the Calcasieu Parish Drainage Board, where he worked as a heavy equipment operator. Mr. Benoit served as an Honorary Officer for the Iowa Police Department.
He is survived by his children, Shirley Porath and husband Lou of Ocean Springs, Miss., Terri Oliver and husband Randy of Westlake, John Allen Benoit and wife Pam of Lake Charles, Armond Joseph Benoit and wife Rhonda of Mamou, and Debra Ann Vidrine of Pine Prairie; sisters, Gernice Conner of Lake Charles, Vina Melton of Longville and Linda Gail LaFleur of Bell City; numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Mae Benoit; parents, Joseph and Lula Arabie Benoit; two sisters; one brother; and grandchild, B. J. Shorts.
His funeral service was held Friday, Feb. 1, at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Ronnie Estes officiated. Burial followed in Lacassine Cemetery.
