Betty Hext Royer was born in DeQuincy on Sept. 28, 1951 and passed away in Sulphur on Feb. 28, 2019 at the age of 67.
She is survived by her children James Bushnell and wife, Sarah of Sulphur, and Theresa Lynn Bushnell of DeRidder; grandchildren, Alison, Jennifer, Jordan, Dylan, Tiera, Jaylin, Faith, Brittany, Tekay and Joshua; and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, R. C. Hext, Jr. and wife, Betty of Singer, Robert E. Hext and wife, Connie of DeQuincy, and Carolyn Joyce Hext of Orange, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas Royer; daughter, Linda Wynette Riley; and her parents, Robert Carroll Hext, Sr. and Dorothy Mae Methvin Hext Meeks.
The family received friends on Friday, Mar. 1, from 5-8 p.m. at Riley Smith Funeral Home in DeQuincy and Saturday, Mar. 2, from 12 Noon until 2 p.m. at Westgate Church, 1599 Highway 12 West, DeQuincy. The funeral service began at 2 p.m. with Pastor Charles Braneff, Jr., Bro. Harry Methvin and Bro. Jerry Hext officiating. Interment followed at Perkins Cemetery in DeQuincy.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith Funeral Home 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
