Theda Ruth Havens, a resident of Singer was born Nov. 24, 1942 and passed away Friday, Aug. 13, 2021 at the age of 78. Theda will always be remembered as a very meek and kind lady. She always had a smile on her face. She was a homemaker and loved cooking for her family, especially during the holidays. She enjoyed working in her yard and garden and she loved her trips to Dollar General. Theda worked in the cafeteria at Singer High School and retired after working twenty-five years. She was a faithful member of The Pentecostal Church, DeQuincy. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Russell Havens, Jr. and wife, Tonya of Fields, Paul Havens and wife, Penny of Harrisville, Miss., Donna Hassanin and husband, Adell of Singer, and Lisa Ernst and husband, Bill of Singer; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, William Eugene Troesch; sisters, Gladys Johnson and Betty Lenning.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Wayne Havens, Sr.; daughter, Phyllis White; parents, Herbert Henry Troesch and Grace Idell Alexander Troesch; brother, Harold Wayne Troesch; and sister, Viola Raughton.
The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy and the funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, at The Pentecostal Church, 301 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy. Pastor Wayne Neyland will be officiating. Interment will follow at Havens Cemetery in Singer.
Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
