Raymond (Sonny) James Sullivan Jr., 90, of Lake Charles, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026 surrounded by family.
He was born in Orange, Texas
He was a Catholic and a member of St. Margaret’s Church for over 40 years. He ministered there as an Usher, Greeter, facilitator of Bible studies, recorded mass on cassette, and brought communion and cassettes to shut-ins.
He grew up in Vinton.
He served in the US Marine Corps at Pendleton Marine Corps Base in San Diego, California from 1956 to 1958. He served in the Reserves until 1962.
His career began in Orange, Texas as a city policeman. He began a sales career with National Life Insurance. He moved into automobile sales in Lake Charles in the ‘70s. He co-owned Louis-Ray Chevrolet dealership in Vinton. He finished his sales career in boat sales.
He is survived by his wife, Trudy Sandifer Sullivan; daughters, Dina (Blane) Bourgeois and Julie (Shanon) Salsbury; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond J Sullivan, Sr. and Medora Bourgeois Sullivan.
Funeral services were held Thursday Sept. 3, at Johnson Funeral Home with Father Aubrey Guilbeau officiating. Burial was at Highland Cemetery.
