The City Council meeting was called to order by Cameron Smith, President of Council on Monday, Aug. 10. Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance were led by Mayor Riley Smith and Scott Wylie. Roll Call by Sherri Breaux. The July 13, 2026, Regular Meeting Minutes, July 16, 2026 Special Meeting Minutes and the Regular Meeting Agenda (adopted) of Aug. 10, 2026 were all approved by Council.
City Reports
Mayor Riley Smith
Kim Rainwater, City Planner, spoke at council meeting, thanking everyone for the time she spent working for the City. Next Council Meeting will be her last council meeting. At next month’s meeting she will present a list of all the projects she has finished and if anyone has a project that they are working on with Rainwater, please get with her.
Mayor Smith, congratulated all the council that will be returning unopposed in the upcoming election. The only council person not returning is Cameron Smith who will be missed. This leaves his District 3 seat open for a new councilman. Mike Streams and Tom Threet will be seeking this seat.
An Historical Group is being formed. Letters have been sent out to individuals asking if they would like to sit on this board. After the board is formed they will proceed.
The Splash Pad is now in operation and its a wonderful thing for the children. A couple of windows at City Hall was broken, but are now repaired. Thanks to the cameras at City Hall, the person that threw a rock and broke the windows, was caught within an hour after, they realized that they were broken. Mayor Smith and Council thanked Rainwter for all her work she has done over the years she has been City Planner. Mayor Smith invited everyone to National Night Out on the museum grounds, Friday, Aug. 14, from 5 till 7:30 p.m.
