Brenda Fontenot Gibson, 72, was born on July 3, 1953, in Mamou and passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026, at her residence in Starks.
She is survived by her children, Natasha Gibson Smith and Shelly Gibson and partner Derek Stewart; grandchildren, Kailee Smith, Destinee Stampley, and Darian Broussard; great-grandchildren, Easton and Stetson; sister, Linda Trahan and husband Earl; numerous nieces and nephews; and brothers-in-law, David and wife Ladonna, Larry Gibson, and Rufus Sonnier.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C.J. Gibson; grandson, Kelton Smith; sister, Carolyn Sonnier; and parents, Hilery and Lydia Fontenot.
The family received friends on Tuesday July 7, from 1 p.m. until the funeral service at 2 p.m., at First Pentecostal Church of Starks, 225 LA-109, Starks. Rev. Alfred Gibson officiated. Interment followed at Fountain Cemetery in Starks.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
