The 45th annual Kansas City Southern Historical Society Convention took place over the weekend at the DeQuincy Railroad Museum with over 40 attendees who came from as far as Calgary Alberta, Canada, Kansas City, Missouri, Houston, Texas, Atlanta, Georgia, Jackson, Mississippi, and Huntsville, Alabama.

Our local sportswriter and railroad enthusiast Jacob McCoy was the host of this year‘s convention and says it went very smoothly!

On Friday afternoon, attendees got there early to get a close and personal glimpse of KCS 776 which is one of five brand new commemorative locomotives that CPKC released a couple of months ago in celebration of the 250th birthday of the United States of America.

Friday night, the business meeting, show and tell, and slideshow presentations as well as a couple of other events took place as multiple attendees showcase, historical pieces, and slideshows of the Kansas City Southern.

On Saturday morning the group of attendees ate breakfast and had coffee at Grind Central Station and enjoyed a wonderful breakfast which was very delicious. Around 10 a.m., attendees took a group photo in front of the America’s 250th locomotive, and shortly thereafter a board meeting took place to discuss the election of officers as well certain things on the agenda. The board meeting adjourned after an hour while other attendees enjoyed the small town railroad atmosphere taking pictures and videos of trains passing through town and exploring the city of DeQuincy.
