THE CITY COUNCIL of the city of DeQuincy met in regular session on the above date in the city hall council chambers located at 300 Holly Street, DeQuincy, Louisiana, with the following members present: Scott Wylie, Jim Smith, Cameron Smith, Margaret Brown and Bobby Dahlquist. The invocation was given, and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. The minutes from April 13 ,2026 meeting were approved. The April 2026 monthly budget and the actual comparison report for the General Fund, Street/Sales Tax Fund, Utility Fund, Airport Fund, Public Safety Fund, and Public Service and Safety Building Fund were included in each council member’s packet. Also, Fire, Police, Public Works, Sewer, and Maintenance reports were in the council files. The mayor gave the city report verbally. There were no questions or comments from the council.
The agenda was approved.
No Public input was heard from citizens about items not on the agenda.
Council heard request for the use of the DeQuincy Shooting range. Council postponed until more guidelines are given.
Council heard concerns from citizens and approved of the demolition of Grand Ave Gym. Contract for demolition was awarded to Sam Pappllion.
Approved a variance for Robert McManus, Sr. to place a mobile home on property located at 811 N. Division Street, contingent upon ordinance requirements for the mobile home are met.
Authorize Mayor Smith to act on behalf of the city of DeQuincy to enter into agreement with DOTD for mowing and litter for 2026-2027.
Introduced resolution and set a public hearing for June 8,2026 for ?% Sales Tax Renewal for public safety and fire protection to be held on Primary Election, November 3, 2026.
Public hearing for Ordinance # 1006 for Franchise and Water service Agreements between LAWCO and the City of DeQuincy. Concerns about the length of the contract were addressed. Hearing closed.
