Last Tuesday, the DeQuincy Tigers traveled up the road to take on the Merryville Panthers in Non-District action. This was the second time in two weeks that both teams played each other with the Tigers defeating the Panthers 3-1 in the South Beauregard tournament. This time the game was played in Merryville and once again the Panthers played the Tigers very tough as they pitched their star left-hander Blaise Brister. However DeQuincy produced 12 hits against the Panthers’ Ace which made a huge difference in the ball game. Merryville’s defense really kept the Tigers at bay a lot of times throughout the game, but they could never catch up to the Tigers.
Noah Pettifield was 1-4, Turner Rodriguez was 2-4 with an RBI, Kahle Miller was 2-2, Bryce Dyson was 1-4, Jeremy Gatlin Jr. was 2-3, Ethan Faulk was 1-4, Tucker Goza was 2-3, and Rowdy Griffin was 1-4.
Turner Rodriguez pitched 6 innings and recorded 10 strikeouts, Grant Rainwater would close in the final inning and recorded 3 strikeouts.
DeQuincy 5, Merryville 2
