Last Friday, the DeQuincy Tigers competed against the Merryville Panthers in the South Beauregard tournament. The Panthers certainly took the Tigers by surprise as Merryville’s Blaise Brister was fantastic on the mound, limiting the Tigers to only two hits on the evening. However thanks to a few Merryville errors, DeQuincy would capitalize on the mistakes and take the lead to preserve a 3-1 victory.
Turner Rodriguez was 1-3, and Jeremy Gatlin Jr. was 1-3.
Bryce Dyson went the distance on the bump for the Tigers recording nine strikeouts in the process.
Merryville’s ace lefty Blasie Brister had a day on the bump only allow allowing two runs and recording seven strikeouts.
DeQuincy 3, Merryville 1
