Although both schools have been closed for many, the Grand Avenue Tigers and Mossville Pirates faced off on the softball diamond last Friday in Westlake in a Legacy game that took place thanks to both DeQuincy High and Westlake High head softball coaches Tiffany Havard and Charlie Smith. DeQuincy wore the blue and gold of Grand Avenue while Westlake wore the burgundy and gold of Mossville. Several alumni from both former schools attended and it was a wonderful time for all in attendance!
Last Friday, the DeQuincy Lady Tigers traveled to take on the Westlake Lady Rams in a historical legacy game as both schools honored the Legacy of Grand Avenue High School and Mossville High School as both schools served as a very important institution in both the DeQuincy and Westlake communities.
Alumni from both Grand Avenue and Mossville were in attendance and were treated to a first class front row seat behind the backstop to watch a great softball game.
Audi Flower was 2-4 with an RBI, Maddie Vinatieri was 1-3, Aubree Royer was 1-4 with 4 RBIs, Emily Cooley was 2-3 with 2 RBIs, Kayden Whotte was 2-2 with RBIs, Olivia Oden was 1-3, an Addli Scott was 2-2 with an RBI including an inside the park home run!
Maddie Vinatieri pitched for three innings and recorded four strikeouts, Bella Moore closed the last two innings and recorded a strike out.
