Norris Dale “Knot” Cormier Jackson has earned his eternal reward. He left his earthly home early last Thursday morning from his home in Lafayette. He began the journey free of pain and with a new body.
Norris Dale Jackson is survived by his wife of 57 years, Wanda Carol Phillips Jackson; son, Brenton Jackson (Kelly); daughter, Nadrid Jackson Callender (Jimmy); and son, Weldon Jackson; nine grandchildren, Ava Grace Jackson, Henrry Hayes Jackson, Caris Rose Callender, Sydney Callender Tracy, Owen James Jackson, Emilia Kate Jackson, and Ashey Stover Zikes; 8 great-grandchildren; one brother, Danny E Jackson; one sister, Jean Renee’ Nixon; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Estelle Ashworth Yarbrough and E. L. Blackie Yarbrough; brother, Royce Kyle (Bunk) Jackson; sister, Yvonne Jackson Baukman; three nephews, Terry Jackson, Carlton (Corky) Baukman, and Marc Edward Jackson; and his grandparents, Rufus and Lonie Ashworth.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 25, at First United Pentecostal Church, 230 Smith St., DeQuincy.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 26, at Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville.
Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
