Russell Letron “Piday” Grant was born in DeQuincy. He died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026, in Lake Charles.
He was a graduate of DeQuincy High School and worked in different professions during his lifetime, one being Union Pacific Railroad, and another, Grant’s Executive Transportation.
He is survived by three sons, Damarcus Letron Fontenot, Jarrell Letron Grant, and Jet Letron Grant; nine sisters, Kayla Chaney, Carla Solomon, Nakole LeDay, Julia Chaney, Meosha Chaney, Barbara Griffin, Yokisha Grant, Ramona Grant, and Tashia Harris; seven brothers, Scott Grant IV, Robert Keith and Willard Dewayne Grant, Benjamin Chaney, Demetrius Simien Sr., and Brian Walker.
He was preceded in death by Scott Grant and Vivian Darby, both of DeQuincy.
His memorial service was held Saturday, Feb. 21, at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church in DeQuincy. Pastor James Harris officiated.
