Peggy L. Mitchell, 85, peacefully entered eternal rest on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026.
Born on Mar. 26, 1940, Peggy lived a life marked by devotion to her family, quiet strength, and enduring love. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth filled every room she entered. Her steady presence and gentle spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Peggy was married to the love of her life, Boyd B. Mitchell. Together they built a family rooted in love, faith, and resilience.
She is lovingly survived by her son, Jason Mitchell, and his wife, Ashlee; her great-granddaughters, Payton Mitchell, Victoria Mitchell, and Madyson Mitchell; her great-grandsons, Colbie Mitchell and Christopher Mitchell; and her great-great-granddaughter, August Ramirez. Each of them was a source of pride and joy in her life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Ricky Mitchell, whom she now joins in eternal peace.
Peggy’s legacy lives on in the generations she nurtured and the faith she carried throughout her life.

Peggy’s life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and she will be loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
The family received friends from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 p.m., Friday, Feb. 20, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Rev. Larry Talent officiated. Interment followed at Perkins Cemetery in DeQuincy.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
