It was a much needed win for the young DeQuincy Fighting Tigers as they were trying to get a monkey off their back. That monkey just so happened to be the DeRidder Dragons who have for the past several years, beaten DeQuincy in some very close games. But this time the Tigers answered the call as sophomore pitcher Grant Rainwater through an absolute gem throwing a no hitter. DeQuincy edged out DeRidder by a final score of 1-0.
This game was also a special one as it marked head coach, Brady Carlsonās 400th career victory and what has been a wonderful career that started back in 2005 when he took over the reigns of his alma mater.
The Tigers will face the Dragons again on Mar. 6, at the Rosepine tournament and as always, it is short to be a great and competitive game!
Jeremy Gatlin Jr. was 1-2 with an RBI, Turner Rodriguez was 2-3, Noah Pettifield was 1-2, and Bryce Dyson was 1-3.
Grant Rainwater went the distance pitching a no hitter while only walking two batters and striking out 8!
Final Score: DeQuincy 1, DeRidder 0
