Kimily “Kim” Buxton was born in DeQuincy, to Cruse and Margaret Cooley on Jan. 3, 1963, and passed away Thursday, Feb.12, 2026, at the age of 63.
Kim shares her birthday with her twin sister, Kit. She was a lifelong resident of DeQuincy, graduating from DeQuincy High School in 1981. In 1986 she married Dennis “Demp” Buxton.
She is survived by her husband, Demp; children, Cody Buxton (Stephanie), and Chelsie Buxton; grandchildren, Blaire LeBlanc (Garrett), Kennedy Buxton, and Kobey Buxton; great-grandchild, Reeve LeBlanc; siblings, Raymond Cooley (Pat), and Kit Spinelli (Don); her fur babies, Pistol and Jed; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cruse and Margaret Cooley; siblings, Ronald “Toup” Cooley, Pamela Cooley and nephew, J.J. Cooley.
Pallbearers were Kobey Buxton, Garrett LeBlanc, Logan Buxton, Grayson Buxton, Garrett Cooley, and Raymond Lynn Cooley. Honorary Pallbearers are Jordan Cooley and Kade Buxton.
The family received friends from 5 – 8 p.m., Monday, Feb. 16, with the service being held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 17, at First Baptist Church in DeQuincy. Interment followed at Good Hope Cemetery in Singer.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
