Jimmie Marie Burgess was born Dec. 10, 1942, and passed away Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2026, at the age of 83.
Jimmie was a faithful Christian, a loyal friend, and had a true servant’s heart. She lived her life with a caring heart, always putting others before herself and offering kindness to everyone she met. She deeply loved her family and found her greatest joy in spending time with them. Her grandchildren were the light of her life; she took great pride in each of their accomplishments and treasured every laugh, hug, and story they shared. She also loved to cook, sharing meals that brought everyone together around the table. Her warmth, compassion, and unwavering faith will be remembered and cherished by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, Kevin Burgess; daughter, Regina “Sissy” Aucoin and husband Will; grandchildren, Liddy Ann Johnson, Shelbi LeDay and husband Jamie, Sydni Burgess, Jeffrey Moore and wife Bethany, Nickalus Moore, Austin Moore and wife Ashley; 12 great-grandchildren; her best friend, Valerie; along with numerous other family, friends, and loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reginald “Reggie” Burgess; parents, James and Laura Elouise Brown; daughter-in-law, Becky Burgess; and sister, Brenda Hollie.
The family received friends from 5 – 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 13, with the funeral service being held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 14, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Rev. Randy Edwards officiated. Interment followed at Good Hope Cemetery in Singer.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
