Brenda Richardson

Brenda Gayle Hennigan Richardson, 75, of DeQuincy, was born in Orange, Texas to Ralph and Aubrey Mae Hennigan Williamson.

She departed from this earthly life and met Jesus on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026, in her home, surrounded by family.

Brenda was a long-time resident of DeQuincy. She was the smiling face and infectious laugh that you couldn’t forget. She worked many jobs throughout her life and left her mark on them all. Brenda was a member of First Baptist Church of DeQuincy, where she volunteered her time and talents when needed and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Brenda enjoyed camping with her family and friends, gardening, and traveling. She had visited much of the United States, and parts of Mexico and Japan. Most of all, Brenda cherished moments and memories made with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Billy D. Richardson Jr. of DeQuincy; her children, Michael Mancil and wife Yumiko of Hammond, Shelley L. Waldrup and husband Chris of Buna, Texas, and Billy “BJ” Richardson III and wife Jennifer of DeQuincy; grandchildren, David “DJ” M. Mancil Jr., Dillon R. Mancil, Lisa M. Mancil, Jakob S. Sumrall, Kolby D. Waldrup, Dade H. Waldrup, and Camryn M. Richardson; sister, Vickie L. Menard and husband Alfred “Bubby” of Starks; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Aubrey Mae Williamson; father, Ralph Hennigan; brother, Donnie Hennigan; and sister, Joan McLeod.

The family received friends from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 3, and will continue from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 4, at First Baptist Church in DeQuincy. Pastor David Earnest will officiate. Interment will follow at Perkins Cemetery in DeQuincy.

Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
