January 12, 2026
DeQuincy, LA
The city council of the city of DeQuincy met in regular session on the above date in the city hall council chambers located at 300 Holly Street, DeQuincy, Louisiana, with the following members present: Scott Wylie, Jim Smith, Cameron Smith, Margaret Brown and Bobby Dahlquist.
The invocation was given, and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
The minutes from December 8, 2025, were approved.
The December 2025 monthly budget and the actual comparison report for the General Fund, Street/Sales Tax Fund, Utility Fund, Airport Fund, Public Safety Fund, and Public Service and Safety Building Fund were included in each council member’s packet. Also, Fire, Police, Public Works, Sewer, Maintenance, and Airport reports were in the council files. The mayor gave the city report verbally. There were no questions or comments from the council.
The agenda was approved
Public input was heard about a box that would hold books for the public.
Mayor Smith reappointed departments heads.
Council postponed deciding on a vote for a variance on 105 N Frazier Street.
Council denied liquor permit for the Dollar General Store # 21274.
Public Hearing was held and adopted Ordinance # 1002, to declare property located TBD on Third Street, sometimes known as the Old City Barn, to become surplus property, and allow it to be sold through the bid process.
The council adopted the following resolution:
Authorized Mayor Smith to sign Cooperative Endeavor Agreement between the CPPJ and City of DeQuincy for the distribution of commodity food boxes.
Authorized Mayor Smith to approve Meyers and Associates, for Engineering Services for the DeQuincy Generators Project (DR-4559-0094-LA), funded by the FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program.
