Fay Thompson

Fay Leona Speakman Thompson was born Feb. 25, 1938, and passed away Friday, Dec. 19, 2025.

Fay was a devoted Christian and was a firm believer in reading her Bible. She enjoyed fishing and cooking for her loved ones. She loved being with her family, spending all the time with them that she could. She was a caregiver to all and always put other people’s needs above her own.

She is survived by her children, Darrell Maze and wife Debbie, and Leslie Huval and husband Darryl; daughter-in-law, Krystal Castleberry; son-in-law, James Castleberry; grandchildren, Dustin Boudreaux, Joshua Lenard and wife Nicole Lenard, Brittany Provost and husband Adam Provost, Gerald Lenard and wife, Jannatul Lenard , Leona Boudreaux, Christiana Castleberry, Jameson Castleberry, Bruno Craig, Victoria Craig, Atlas Castleberry, Jerome Bruce, Samantha Bruce, Amber Trahan, and Cody Trahan; 10 great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Ann Castleberry; parents, Hilton Speakman and Ruby Crumby Speakman; and four brothers.

The family received friends from 5-8 p.m., Monday, Dec. 22, and continued from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 23, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Pastor Darrell Huval officiated. Interment followed at Riley Smith Memorial Park in DeQuincy.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
