Hester Mayhall

Hester Eygabroad Mayhall was born July 19, 1963, and passed away Saturday, Dec. 14, 2025, at the age of 62.

Her parents are Leonard W. Eygabroad, Jr. of Tumwater, Washington and Mary A. Eygabroad of DeQuincy.

Hester loved traveling. She traveled to all but seven of the fifty states in her lifetime, which was on the east coast. She also visited Canada. She was a CNA for 25 years, for the elderly and young adults with disabilities. She loved people and had a loving, compassionate and caring heart. Most of all, she loved her children, grandchildren and family. She was a devoted mother and friend. Hester enjoyed watching westerns, listening to music, reading, writing poetry and studying Christian scriptures. Her greatest accomplishments in life were being a loving and devoted mother, caregiving to others and writing poetry.

She was a Christian and was a member of the Church of Christ in DeQuincy. Hester attended South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia, Washington where she received her CNA degree while working and being a single mother at the time. She also took other classes at PSC College. She also attended McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana and LA Tech University. She always had a love for learning.

Hester is survived by her daughters, Mariah E. Mayhall and Journey L. Mayhall; four grandchildren, Hannah L. Bingham, Amiee R. Yocum, Ava I. Martinez and Alice N. Pickering; father, Leonard W. Eygabroad Jr., of Tumwater, Washington; four brothers, Robert T. Eygabroad Sr. and wife Debbie, of DeQuincy; Dennis J. Eygabroad and wife Heather, of Tumwater, Washington; John D. Eygabroad and wife Yanette, of Gilbert, Arizona and Marcus B. Sterling and wife Mary, of Lynwood, Washington; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Hester was preceded in death by her sons, Brandon Lee McDonald and Hobbie W. Bingham Jr.; daughter, Faith L. McDonald Martinez; and mother, Mary A. Eygabroad.

The family received friends from 1 until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 19, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Rev. Mike Streams officiated. Interment followed at Alston Cemetery in DeQuincy.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
