Jessica Suzanne “Jessie” Hoosier, 46, of Many, passed away peacefully, after a courageous battle with a long illness, on Monday, Nov. 3, 2025. She was born in Lake Charles and grew up in Zwolle.
A 1997 graduate and Salutatorian of Zwolle High School, Jessie also attended the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA). She excelled in Quiz Bowl, FBLA, and Bible drill competitions, and was known for her intelligence, kindness, and joyful, song-filled spirit, despite lifelong health challenges.
She is survived by her father, James “PeeWee” Hoosier, and stepmother, Ali; her mother, Denise Richardson; stepbrother, Lance Melendy (Ashley); sisters, Jennifer Skero (Kenneth) and Jaclyn Hoosier (Dusty Hippler); daughter, Savannah Parrie (Steven Broussard); and grandchildren, Emma and Owen Broussard.
Jessie’s warmth, intelligence, and laughter will be cherished forever by all who knew and loved her.
The family received friends from 12 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 6, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Bro. Dean Johnson, pastor of Old Pisgah Baptist Church, officiated. Interment followed at Perkins Cemetery in DeQuincy.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
