Eugene “Blue” Duraso was born Jan. 21, 1955, and passed away Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025, at the age of 70.
Blue was a man who found joy in the simple things. He enjoyed spending early mornings hunting or fishing, doing engine repairs and loving and caring for animals. He also served on the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury for 27 years. Above all, Blue loved his family. They were his greatest pride and the center of his life. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Billie Andrus and husband Clyde, Myriah Duraso, Joseph Williams, and Gaije Dennis and husband Cory; grandchildren, Jobë Duraso, Jolie Andrus, and Ivy Dennis; siblings, Mary Lou Hicks and husband Rusty, and Wilson “Wimpy” Duraso; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his life partner, Carol Williams; and parents, John and Dorothy Duraso.
The family received friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 25, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Bro. Russell Beard officiated.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
