Endurance athlete and author Carey Rouse is riding a bicycle 1,300 miles from Austin, Texas, to Lake Nona, Fla. to hand-deliver his book Find Meaning Through Relentless Discipline.
The ride is a live “field test” of the book’s principles. Each day, he’ll share data from the road—miles, stats, setbacks, and accomplishments—along with a practical lesson in discipline. The finish is Lake Nona, home to Spartan founder Joe De Sena’s office.
Rouse made an overnight stop at the Heritage Place in DeQuincy on Monday, Sept. 29, where News photographer Doug DeViney met up with him and Rouse’s mom, Ladonna Lane. Lane drove from Oklahoma (500 miles) to support her son’s efforts and provide any help needed along the way. Way to go, Mom!
