Janette Renee Statum, 57, passed away on Friday, Sept. 19, 2025 at her residence.
She was born in Eureka, Calif., and had lived in various places across the United States before moving to Louisiana and had been a resident of DeQuincy for the last 18 years. Janette enjoyed sewing, making clothes and going to the Texas Renaissance Festival. She had a compassionate heart and loved taking care of her animals and helping others in need.
Survivors include her husband of 17 years, Thomas Statum of DeQuincy; sons, Marshel Ellis of DeQuincy and Jonathan Ellis of Moss Bluff; and siblings, Vickie Dronet of Westlake and Vance “Buddy” Ellis of Sulphur.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Ellis and Doris Meaux.
A Family Celebration of Life was held at her home on Saturday, Sept. 27.
