Bell’s new book now available; two book signings announced

The book, Rail Town Blues, Saga of the Night Law, is now available at DeQuincy News and on Amazon.

The book outlines the adventures of a young Green Beret suffering from PTSD, who just mustered out of the US Army. His name was SSG Jerry Hill, who was tired of all the wars, somewhat depressed and felt guilty that he was still living while many of his Special Forces buddies were dead.

All SSG Hill wanted to do was head back home, spend some time with his relatives, maybe go back to school, live a peaceful life. He had been through two wars, seen what war does to one’s mental health and just wanted to live a calmer life.

Heading west towards his hometown of Rail Town, he passed throuhj South Carolina, stopped along the highway and picked some cotton just to say he did. He then went through Macon, Ga., stopped and had some bacon in Macon. While traveling through Alabama, he was pulled over by an Alabama State Trooper who asked for his autograph, thinking that he was stopping the Green Beret song singer, SSG Hill told him that he was not Barry Sadler, the Trooper was deeply disappointed until SSG Hill reached in the back of his car, and gave the trooper a Green Beret.

22 hours later SSG Hill arrived in Rail Town, he was home, even though it was just a spot in the road. It meant everything to Hill to be back where he would enjoy peace and tranquility, escaping wars and other types of turmoil. Boy was Hill in for a surprise.

Follow Hill on his duties as the “Night Law” in Rail Town. He was attempting to tame a town that could not be tamed. Hill soon found out that it had been safer in Vietnam than here in Rail Town. There are many twists and turns in this novel. The story takes place in a fictional town, a town that could be mean at times, especially to anyone that would try to mess with the “good ole boys” and their way of life.

The first book signing will be held on Thursday, Oct. 2, at the Temple Baptist Church Fellowship Hall from 5-7 p.m. The second signing will be at the Farmers Market on Saturday, Oct. 4, located on the museum grounds.

Presently the book can be bought at DeQuincy News and on Amazon. All profits will go to charity. Major Bell wants to remind everyone that this is a fictional novel set in a fictional town.
